As a
club oriented to promoting racing and riding skills, Ciclismo SA achieves
a higher level of recognition and credibility by being a member club of
both the United States Cycling
Federation (USCF: club # 6755) and the
National Off-Road Bicycle Association
(NORBA: club # 5755). Ciclismo SA strongly recommends that all its riders
become licensed through either the USCF or NORBA (or both).
The
USCF and NORBA serve as the national governing bodies for amateur road
bike racing and mountain biking, creating and maintaining standard rules
and rider categories. As not-for-profit entities, the USCF and
NORBA offer to members of all abilities racing opportunities by
sanctioning road and off-road events nationwide. As support. the USCF and
NORBA provide racing memberships, scheduling assistance, race officials, a
monthly national publication for road and mountain bikers, and other
materials to bike clubs that organize road or off-road bike events. Both
the USCF and NORBA are divisions of USA Cycling where they share
resources, but maintain autonomy in the governance and policy setting for
their particular areas of cycling.
Ciclismo SA also enthusiastically supports the
sport of triathlon and the club encourages its triathletes to support and
join the national triathlon governing body,
USA Triathlon.
In addition, many club
members also support and are members of other local clubs such as the
San Antonio Wheelmen Touring
Club and the South Texas Off
Road Mountain-Bikers club. |
