The
BMC
product range is becoming stronger every year. We invest heavily
to make sure that we are no mere pillion passengers! A BMC cycle
is not mass-produced – our design speaks for itself! We have
redefined the carbon class with our Pro Machine and the two
pioneering new developments Fourstroke 01 and Team Elite 01.
Carbon is undoubtedly the material of the future, but material
alone does not make a good cycle. By mastering exacting
technologies, such as our Multi-Mould System or the Easton
Carbon Nanotube Technology, we are able to get the very best out
of this black gold: Riding machines which feature outstanding
design, allied to excellent performance figures and ride
qualities.
New materials hold out new opportunities. To benefit from them
to the full, detailed knowledge of the specific properties of
the material is needed, combined with a precise idea of the
strains placed on specific parts of the cycle frame. In this
regard, carbon is particularly demanding because the fibre
orientation must be defined accurately, together with the tube
cross-sections and wall thicknesses. Crossed fibre layers are
often used when load values are not clear, but their technical
performance is lower. That is why we only use unidirectional
fabrics and dispense with the traditional carbon optical effect.
The additional expenditure is well worthwhile. |
